Content Policy
OpenClass is a welcoming, safe community for learners and teachers of all backgrounds. Every class listing is personally reviewed. Here's what we accept — and what we don't.
Our Simple Standard
“Would a Memphis grandmother and her 10-year-old grandchild feel welcome in this class?”
If yes — it belongs on OpenClass. If no — it doesn't.

❌ Adult or Sexual Content
Classes of a sexual or adult nature are strictly prohibited. This includes pole dancing, exotic dancing, and any content that is sexually suggestive.
❌ Illegal Activities
Classes that promote, teach, or facilitate illegal activities of any kind will be immediately removed and reported to authorities.
❌ Weapons & Dangerous Materials
Classes involving weapons, firearms, explosives, or dangerous materials are not permitted on OpenClass.
❌ MLM & Pyramid Schemes
Multi-level marketing recruitment disguised as a class is prohibited. Classes must teach a genuine skill — not recruit participants into a sales organization.
❌ Religious Conversion
Classes intended to convert participants to a religious belief are not permitted. Cultural and historical discussions of religion in an educational context are welcome.
❌ Political Campaigning
OpenClass is not a platform for political campaigning, candidate promotion, or partisan political activity.
❌ Private Residences
For the safety of all community members, classes may not be held in private homes or residences. All in-person classes must take place in approved public venues.
❌ Discrimination
Classes that discriminate against or exclude participants based on race, gender, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, age, or any other protected characteristic are strictly prohibited.
❌ Misrepresentation
Teachers must accurately represent their qualifications, experience, and class content. Misrepresentation of any kind is grounds for immediate removal from the platform.
❌ Harmful Health Claims
Classes may not make unsubstantiated medical or health claims, diagnose conditions, or recommend treatments in place of professional medical advice.
🤔 Gray Areas — Our Judgment Applies
Some classes require extra review. We'll evaluate these case by case and may request additional information before approving.
How We Enforce This Policy
✅ Every teacher application is personally reviewed before approval.
✅ Every class listing is reviewed before it goes live.
✅ Students can report any class that violates this policy.
✅ We investigate all reports promptly and thoroughly.
✅ Violations result in immediate class removal.
✅ Serious violations result in permanent removal from the platform.
✅ Illegal activity is reported to the appropriate authorities.
